Ricky David Tripp an award-winning singer, songwriter and guitarist with an interesting distinction — he has been seen and heard by more people than any other musical performer in Arkansas except those with major label recording contracts! Central Arkansas Entertainment Agency is proud to have the opportunity to work with such an accomplished musician!

He has appeared on stage and television since the tender age of 14, when he appeared on The Vic Ames Show, starring Vic Ames of Ames Brothers fame. From the age of 19, with brother Mike, he was one of The Tripp Brothers, a popular act in central Arkansas. The first of many big breaks came in 1980, with his appearance on Illusions, a syndicated TV series shown in a five-state area. Just a few years later, in 1987, he would begin the first of more than 40 broadcast appearances on cable’s The Nashville Network, originally seen in the late 80s and early 90s by more than 52 million viewers across the US and Canada.After multiple TNN appearances, and opening for such artists as Vince Gill, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jerry Jeff Walker and Glen Campbell, he emerged from an original field of more than 60,000 performers to win the prestigious national title of the True Value/GMC Truck Country Showdown, the world’s biggest country music competition. Appearing onstage at the Grand Palace in Branson MO with Kenny Rogers, Louise Mandrell and Doug Stone, Tripp picked up a check for $50,000 and a recording contract with the RCA music group’s BNA label. A recording released in early 2001, “Anthems For The Millennium” (AJC Records) went unnoticed until the September 11 tragedy in New York City, and interest developed in Tripp’s recording of a George Simon song, “America, My Home.”  For more details about Ricky David Tripp contact Central Arkansas Entertainment Agency.

In October 2001, at an event dubbed “A Tribute to Arkansans in Uniform,” at the invitation of then-Governor Mike Huckabee (now a 2008 Republican Presidential candidate), Tripp performed the song for more than 25,000 in attendance at Little Rock AR’s Riverfront Ampitheatre, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd.  The event, which also included Atlantic recording artist Tracy Lawrence and Grammy nominees The Martins, was televised statewide through KATV Channel 7 (ABC), with segments shown on both ABC News and CNN.Tripp went on to perform the song throughout the remainder of 2001 and 2002 at military bases and for various special events, including one held in Las Vegas with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Clinton advisor James Carville.  The song was also featured on the Armed Forces Radio Network and marketed nationally through Amazon.com.In 2003, a friendship with 50s and 60s superstar Jimmie Rodgers began and later in 2007, in association with and directed by Rodgers himself, Tripp will record a unique album of Jimmie Rodgers’ original music that was never recorded before, including a song originally intended for the late Frank Sinatra. Following this project, plans will include an album of songs by Ricky David Tripp and his brother, Mike Tripp.  He is also slated for another project as a voice talent for an animated motion picture written by Rodgers, now being considered by several major studios.  An accomplished musician, Tripp also wrote “The Balloon Song (Look Up In The Sky),” the international theme song for Youth Ending Hunger, an international youth-oriented group dedicated to ending world hunger, which was used in their worldwide event in 1985 in all 50 states and six foreign countries. His work as a feature writer and columnist have been read worldwide, and he is a past contributor to Billboard magazine and a book by noted music author Dave Marsh. Also, as “Magic Rick,” he began in 1999 performing as a professional magician and illusionist, having enjoyed doing magic since he was in grade school.

Ricky makes his home in Central Arkansas with his wife, Barbara, his daughter Courtney, age 16, and their pet Sheltie, Cassie. Making Entertainment his business, Ricky David Tripp performs all over Central Arkansas and the state!
